One of the main strengths of the Google Android OS is the “openness” of the platform. Evidence of that became apparent today in one respect with the release of the Opera Mini 4.2 beta web browser that you can use on your device with the Google default browser. Opera Mini 4.2 beta is quite functional and it is nice to see an alternative browser.

Yes
why use edge?
is the full version of the opera mini 4.2 available?????
opera mobile is the best
Opera Mini runs through Opera servers that compress the data so that websites load faster without losing quality. It also renders webpages exactly like a desktop with word wrap features. Opera Mini on the Samsung Instinct will load websites in 3 seconds, and Opera is usually very fast, which is why people want it. I’m not sure why it seems to be so slow here, but usually Opera Mini on any 3g phone will load much much much quicker than iPhone 3g’s Safari of G1 Chrome.
i suppose for people who are used to Opera Mobile and dont wanna have change.
Why do you want to put Opera Mini on a G1 when the built in browser is superior?
Hmmm… Well I think the g1 browser in the phone is actually quite nice. Maybe cuz i already use google chrome on my computer. Idk, i just think it works great. Just my opinion.
i liked opera mini back when i used to have a palm handheld, nice to see it on this device that i hope to get soon
