Comparing the iphone 3G to the Samsung Omnia II (GT-I8000), my personal opinion is that the Samsung is a lot faster, and the screen is absolutely amazing.. Colour is fantastic, motion is unbelievably smooth.. A really great phone.. Only downside is the price!

i think that both phones are relly good but 0mnia is little better. xd // wrote plz
omg your making the iphone look good and the omnia 2 look rubbish come on OMNIA 2 is the best phone but got to admit iphone 3Gs! is better not 3G
the i phone can suck my dictionary
@T4Taco Educate ourselves? Why would we have to spend time with a steep learning curve for things that should’ve been easy to begin with?
For no cost? Are you saying piracy? If so, the iPhone has its userbase as well. WinMo 6.5 regardless of what, is a poor implementation compared to Android and the iPhone’s. HTC at least makes their UI look nice and usable. I don’t see it with the Omnia.
lol @ T4Taco having to try so hard to defend his phone. I addressed the “one task” at a time with Proswitcher+Backgrounder (both free). Gimmick/fad? Really? Utility and ease of use is important to me and the Omnia doesn’t provide it. So the iPhone is a 2007 phone…right. Being an Android and iPhone user, WinMo phones are crap with the exception of HTC’s line due to their SenseUI/Touchflo3D implementations. Besides overpriced fart apps, there are countless number of useful apps.
The thing is, with Winmo, the option is there of getting anything you want for NO COST.
But you’re not smart enough to bother looking.
And no, winmo 6.5 is winmo 6.5, regardless of hardware. The only thing that differs is how it’s presented. It functions the same from device to device excluding carrier tweaks, like today screens and skins.
You are completely wrong: just because two devices run the same software does not mean that tweaks will work on both devices. if you are such a seasoned windows mobile use r you should be aware of this. by the way im quite familiar with Vito sms but this app is rather clunky in itself and very expensive.quite funny that you should write of the iphone for lacking features which are remedied for free then recommend an app which is overpriced and brings a feature that should be there anyway
Download VITO SMS.
Threaded Text Messaging once again.
Instead of complaining about how much Winmo sucks, educate yourself. Read forums, app sites, find out about what programs you can get a hold of to better your experience.
Or get an iPhone, this is clearly too complicated for you.
misterleoni, you’re the dumbass.
Regardless if I have i910 or i8000, I am running winmo 6.5, which by the way doesn’t matter what hardware you use, the options are the same on a software level.
@ storage2k, Enjoy your one task at a time, gimmick, fad, brick, of a 2007 phone with overpriced fart apps and a very annoying self righteous consumer base..
=]
Ya I know lol. If only Samsung went Android with this phone along with capacitive touch. It’d be quite the challenger on the market.
@storage2k
thats because of winMo!!! AMOLED would show 16 000 000 colors!!!
and ya all should know that AMOLED doesnt use “Backlight” every pixel is a LED (LightEmittingDiode)
Only Sh** on I8000 is the resistive in case of Quality!!! capacitive is always the better way!
@T4Taco iPhone + Multifl0w+Backgrounder = Win. Anyhow, enjoy your 2009 phone with only 65k colours and resistive touch .
t4taco, you need to get a life, your a fucking tool
Agreed. Stock skins out of the box are never good. Once you get something cooked, it’s so much faster.
Quite funny that you should call me a dumbass with none of the facts at hand. You are an i910 owner so calling someone a ‘dumbass’ when you yourself don’t have the device to hand is somewhat ‘dumbass’, is it not? SKtools DOES NOT turn off the message sent notification on the i8000 – try it yourself if you can ever afford to buy one, and don’t judge people. I spoke from experience; you spoke from ignorance and assumption.
That’s because the iPhone doesn’t multitask.
One app at a time.
On an Omnia you can open as many apps as you like, with each you’re gunna get laggier for obvious reasons of eating up RAM.
This phone is stock. With a little work, downloading tweaks and installing SK Tools and registry hacks, this phone will be blazing fast.
First of all, who even bothers to use the stock “skin”? Manilla, SPB, all better alternatives and lighter on the system resources!
You’re kinda dumb sir.
Can’t turn off “sent messages”?
Ever heard of SK Tools?
That’s the beauty of Winmo Phones (not much else is beautiful tbh) IMPOSSIBLE IS IMPOSSIBLE.
There’s always a fix for any little annoying thing on Winmo, you just have to know where to look.
I have the Omnia i910 and I love it!
You have completely missed the point. AMOLED screens are KNOWN to be poor in sunlight compared to standard LCD – try viewing the N86 screen in daylight compared with the N82. The i8000 is even WORSE because it has an EXTRA NON TRANSFLECTIVE resistive touchscreen layer on TOP of the AMOLED screen. Your backlight point is irrelevent: the iPhone, for example, can be viewed perfectly in the sunlight EVEN WITH THE BACKLIGHT SWITCHED TO ITS LOWEST SETTING, because it uses transflective glass and LCD.
meh, the display is great. the ‘negative effect of wasting battery” when backlight is on is the same “negative effect of wasting battery” for EVERY phone. This is not an amoled “problem”, it’s just an obvious effect if the technology, which is WHY the backlight can be turned on.
How do I not know what I’m talking about? by impossible to view in daylight I meant that in bright light or with the sun shining it is next to impossible to see what’s happening on the I8000 display. this is a know problem with amoled displays but is made all the worse by the resistive, none-transflective layer and is only marginally helped by turning the backlight up to full (which also has the negative effect of wasting battery)t: you are clearly very forgiving of your phone.
“display is IMPOSSIBLE to view in daylight”
…just tipped me off you don’t know what you are talking about. i8000 has a backlight that you can turn on/off to save battery = during the day the amoled screen is good enough, for night turn on the backlight. You clearly did NOT learn how to use this phone even superficially.
a friend of mine told me… when u update the software from 6.1 to 6.5 it wont be that much laggy and u dont have to press down as hard as on the 6.1 software…
even after the update???
….by the way I have been using SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 and whilst I agree it is better than Touchwiz the beauty is only skin deep.
Underneath it all is a very clunky and out of date Windows Mobile. There are other annoyances too: NO THREADED SMS as Samsung have completely disabled it despite the fact that is is supported in WM 6.1,, annoying ‘message sent’ notifications that CANNOT be turned off, low sound through the headphones. If you must have a Windows Mobile phone go with HTC and Touchflo.
