whats an unlocked apple iphone?

Id scope out ebay, but even there its not necessarily gonna be cheap. There was a kid that got a new 2007(this happened last year) car for his unlocked phone.

Because the Iphone is on a GSM phone and verizon is CDMA network you would wouldn’t be able to get the iphone (even an unlocked one) onto verizon becuse CDMA networks don’t take Sim cards. Even if you found some magically way the phone would then be too mess up to use properly.

Ok .. the 3g version is not out yet not till 7/11. The phone will need to be purchased at an Apple or ATT store and activated on the ATT network before leaving.
Apple has taken steps to insure that the 3g phone is not as easy to hack. I dont know the exact ones … just they say that they have. They learned a lesson on the last one!

So since no 3g phones are available .. there is no hack at this time.
id say they are priceless at this point.

AT&T has a bunch of new terms with the new 3G iPhone preventing unlocking and selling.

You must be eligible to upgrade, you MUST activate it and sign a contract for two years in the store, you MUST have a $30 monthly data plan add on, and you have to pass a credit check just to buy it. So the buyers almost HAVE to keep it.

It will be difficult finding an unlocked 3G at first, since you have to sign your life away to get one. You can’t even buy them online from apple.com. Only at an apple store or corporate AT&T store will the 3G iPhones be sold.

Sorry! Apple was serious about this no unlocking and selling business. Although, I’m sure you can find one eventually, but expect to overpay a LOT for it!

The 3g iPhones come out on July 11th and can be bought at some at&t stores and apple stores, but the new ones can’t be unlocked. You would have to buy a 1st generation iPhone in order to unlock it, and they don’t sell them in stores anymore. You would hafta get one on craigslist.org or ebay (they are a lot cheaper on craigslist). I hope that helped..but as of now, they are saying you won’t be able to unlock the new 3g iPhones, and you hafta activate them before you leave the store. You can’t just buy them outright.

This question has been thrown out there many times, and the answer is, no one knows. You have to wait until the 3G is released, after that you have to wait for those worldwide hackers to do their thing. It will probably be thrown out there around August. Another thing, you cant buy the new iphone 3G online, it has to be activated in-store. i know it sucks right. on top of that they have made it extra hard to be unlocked. so we all just have to wait and see. i cant wait for it to be released.
