you should stick wit the HTC Touch HD cuz it has way better options and it looks way better.

i wud not get the G1 mainly bcos htc r gna release their next android phone soon. (Q2 2009 is predicted) and this shud hv a bigger screen, a better battery life, and some features that the current g1 lacks. example: the g1 cant record video, has a poor video player, and not many apps yet, so u shud w8 in either case cos 1 of the main reasons to buy the g1 over the htc hd is cos of its apps. also several other phone manufacturers (LG, sony ercisson, motorola…) say that they will produce an android phone (or several) b4 the end of 2009.

at the moment there r more apps for a winmo device than the android platform.

also the design of the g1 has been criticized a lot. ppl say that the “chin” gets in the way wen ur trying to use the keyboard and ppl complain about adjusting to write wiht the “chin” in the way.

the g1 cant record video, doesnt come with a video player built in and has a smaller screen and has a worse resolution so if u wna watch videos the touch hd is better.

the g1 (like the iphone) has bluetooth but only for headsets whereas the hd has “proper” bluetooth which can be used for headsets and sending/geting files, apps, pictures, videos, etc.

the g1 has a worse camera (3.15mpx compared to 5mpx)

the g1 has a worse battery life

the g1 is also much fatter than the hd (even wen the hd is in the pouch it comes with) so its harder to fit in ur pocket

listening to music is better on the hd mainly cos it has a 3.5mm jack

the hd has a proximity sensor (which is not essential but a nice touch)

the g1 has more buttons which usually means using the touchscreen less. i prefer to use the touchscreen as much as possible, that is y i wud buy a touchscreen device instead of 1 without a touchscreen and with several buttons. sadly the g1 does force u to use the uncomfortable keyboard and has no on screen keyboard. a touchscreen with a d pad like on the diamond wud b nice cos this can be used to navig8 to links and zoom in and out. the g1 has a trackpad which can actually be helpful (eg: wen u wna clik on a link that is 2 small 4 ur fingers 2 press acurately), but thats about all its useful 4, being able to zoom with it wud hv been nice. the g1 has other buttons around the trackpad as well. and i hv heard that at times it gets confusing which 1 to press cos 1 of them exits the app, while the other 1 closes the app but it runs in the backround (which slows ur device, perhaps the reason y iphone cant really multi-task)

also the accelerometer is only for street view so u hv to open the keyboard to rotate the screen (i think by now sum1 has come up with an app to avoid this tho)

now the g1 has a v nice capacitive screen but the phone does not take advantage of this. there is currently no app that supports multitouch on the g1 (if the g1 supports multitouch at all) yet i wud still prefer capacitive to pressure sensitive.

conclusion: dont get g1 cos htc r already planing their 3rd android device and serval other manufaturers will build an android phone soon. currently the apps that the g1 has is not v many – another reason to w8. so if u had to buy a phone now i wud say go with the htc hd which has better specs overall. however i wud probably buy the g2 (wen its released) instead of the htc hd. cos all they really need is a bigger better screen, more apps and a better design. if the htc hd wud support android that wud b a gr8 combination.
